KANNUR: In a bizarre incident, a lorry driver allegedly beat a cleaner to death with a jack lever. The incident happened Tuesday early morning at 4.30 am at Mananthavady Churam near Nidumpoyil under the Peravoor police station limits in Kannur. The dead is Siddique (28) of Pathanapuram in Kollam. Nishad (29) of Pathanapuram, the lorry driver, who abandoned the body on the road side, surrendered at the Kannavam police station.

Siddique and Nishad were employees of the lorry laden with cement and was proceeding to Koothuparambu from Andhra Pradesh. Police said a verbal dispute broke out between the two and in a fit of rage Nishad beat Siddique with the jack lever. The body has been shifted to Peravoor Taluk Hospital.
