THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Meteorological Department said the low pressure strengthening in the Bay of Bengal will soon transform into cyclone mocha. The low pressure is presently located over southeast Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. It is likely to reverse its initial direction and move towards the Bangladesh-Myanmar coast. However, due to its influence, there is a possibility of heavy rain in many places in Kerala till May 12.

The cyclone will not directly affect Kerala. There is no special rain warning in any district today. Fishermen have been warned to be cautious. Mocha will move northwestward towards the central-eastern part of the Bay of Bengal till Thursday and then change direction.
