THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Low pressure strengthened over the Bay of Bengal. It will turn into a severe depression in the next few hours. The Meteorological Centre has announced that it will turn into Mocha cyclone by tomorrow. The low pressure is currently located near southeast Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. It is likely to reverse its initial direction and move towards the Bangladesh-Myanmar coast. However, due to its influence, there is a possibility of heavy rain in many places in Kerala till May 12.
Yellow alert has been announced in three districts in the state today. Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Wayanad districts are under rain warning today. Heavy rain is possible at isolated places. 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Kerala. Fishermen have been asked to be on alert.
