arikomban

KUMILY: Rogue tusker Arikomban, who was translocated from Chinnakanal to the Periyar Tiger Reserve, is currently remaining in Megamalai in Tamil Nadu. The elephant is currently in the Tamil Nadu forest region. Efforts to send the elephant back to the Kerala forest region have not yet yielded results. The elephant is located 8 kilometres away from the Kerala border.

Meanwhile, it is hinted that the elephant is currently moving towards the Periyar Tiger Reserve. The elephant did not enter the populated area yesterday night. For the past few days, the people living in the Megamalai region have been alarmed as Arikomban was found in many areas of the region.

Recently, a video had surfaced showing Arikomban charging towards a bus that was travelling through a pass leading to Megamalai. The video shows the elephant charging towards the bus when the driver attempted to take the bus forward. It then went back into the forest after standing there for a while. A team of 30 Tamil Nadu forest rangers is monitoring Arikomban.

At the same time, the Tamil Nadu Forest Department has complained that Kerala is not providing accurate signal information on Arikomban. Due to this reason, there is difficulty in monitoring the movement of Arikombam, according to Chinnamanur Range Officer. For the past three days, Arikomban has been reaching the populated areas in the region, thereby creating a frightening situation there.
