ALLEPPEY: State Chambers will come up in all districts to avoid waste of money in hiring huge stages and auditoriums for public functions of the government, including 'Karuthalum Kaithangum' Adalats headed by the Chief Minister and Ministers. The terraces of the collectorate buildings are to be converted into chambers in most districts.
The revenue department has directed the collectors to find plots of ten thousand square feet and submit the plans. The layout is being prepared with the help of PWD Buildings Division.
The terrace of the new building of the Collectorate in Alappuzha is under consideration. This can reduce construction costs and utilize wasted space.
Disability friendly
The design should be disability friendly considering the disabled. A lift along with handicap accessible toilet, wash basin, light and sound system for the conference hall, separate chamber for officials including ministers, and necessary seating for the public and officials should be provided.
No need to carry the files
'Government came up with the plan for State Chamber in the situation where the Collectorate conference halls were not adequate for the meetings to be attended by the Ministers. Necessary steps to implement the project are progressing.'
- Haritha V Kumar,
Collector, Alappuzha
