KOLLAM: Police said that Sandeep, who stabbed woman house surgeon Dr. Vandana Das to death, was calm when he was taken to the hospital. According to sources close to the police, Sandeep was not handcuffed as he was calm when taken to the hospital. He was taken to the hospital not as an accused but as a person who sustained injuries in a brawl case.

Sandeep was calm when he sat before the doctor. Following this, the policemen went out of the dressing room. In the meantime, Sandeep's relative Binu reached the hospital. Upon seeing Binu, Sandeep became violent. He first attacked Binu and kicked him. Following this, he attacked the doctor and the policemen using a surgical blade in the hospital, the police said.

The incident took place in Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital at around 4 am today. A dispute had broken out between Sandeep and his brother on Tuesday night. Following this, Sandeep himself called the police alleging that he was attacked by his brother. Sandeep had sustained an injury on his leg. Upon reaching the spot, police realized that it was Sandeep who committed the violence. Following this, they took him into custody.

Sandeep was then taken to Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital for a medical examination and to dress his wounds. Dr. Vandana sustained six stab wounds on her body. Though she was rushed to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, her life could not be saved.
