KOLLAM: The preliminary post-mortem report says that the murdered house surgeon Dr Vandana has 11 stab wounds on her body. The doctor was stabbed three times in the head alone and six times in the back. According to the postmortem report, multiple stab wounds to the back and head caused Vandana's death. The body will be cremated tomorrow. The court remanded Sandeep, the accused in the case, for 14 days. He will be shifted to Poojapura Central Jail in Thiruvananthapuram.
Doctors will continue their strike tomorrow in all districts of the state in protest against the incident. The IMA has urged the Chief Minister to pass a law to ensure the safety of health workers.
Dr. Vandana was brutally stabbed to death by Sandeep, an accused who was taken to the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital for medical examination early this morning. Vandana is the only daughter of KG Mohandas, a trader in Kottayam's Muttuchira and Vasanthakumari. Sandeep Nedumbana, the accused in the case, is a UP school teacher. He was suspended from service after the incident. The police said that the accused is addicted to drugs.
