BENGULURU: Congress is preparing to come to power in Karnataka with a landslide victory. Meanwhile, the CPM has faced a miserable defeat in the elections. CPM lost in all the four constituencies it contested, trailing NOTA in three. The only consolation was that they managed to secure third place in the seat contested with the support of JDS.
In the Karnataka elections, CPM won about a thousand votes in two of the four constituencies contested and less than a thousand votes in one. CPM candidate Dr. Anil Kumar was expected to win in Bagepalli but managed to come only third. JDS and CPI had announced their support to CPM in Bagepalli but to no avail.
The CPM candidate secured only 1008 votes in the KGF where the CPI(M) and CPM clashed. Congress candidate M Rupkala won here. In KR Puram constituency, CPM candidate got only 1220 votes and CPI candidate got only 227 votes. CPM won 822 votes in Gulbarga Rural, BJP candidate won here.
