KOLLAM: The superintendent of the hospital gave a report that the police ran away after the accused became violent in the Kottarakkara taluk hospital, and if they had intervened in time, Dr. Vandana's life would not have been lost. Superintendent Dr. Sunil Kumar submitted the report criticizing the police to the DMO.

The accused Sandeep was brought to the hospital by the police and his relatives at around 4 am last Wednesday. Sandeep becomes violent at 4:34. Meanwhile, the police who reached the observation room ran out of the casualty's gate at the same speed. Dr. Vandana Das, who was critically injured, was taken to a private hospital at 4:42 p.m. The incident lasted only eight minutes.

The policemen, who ran outside the casualty gate, came back only after Vandana was taken to the hospital. Four policemen and security were present in the casualty when the incident took place. There was no lathi stick in the hands of the policemen. Hearing the commotion, the police came inside with a chair but all of them ran out empty-handed within seconds. The security explained that he could not enter because the police had closed the casualty's gate from the outside after the attack.

The accused will be taken into custody

DMO and Additional Director of DHS visited the hospital in person and prepared a report on the incident. The crime branch team collected the hard disks of all the surveillance cameras in casualty. The accused stabbing a policeman was caught on the surveillance camera of the casualty. The investigation team will apply to the court today to take the accused Sandeep, who is on remand in Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail, into custody.
