THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The family of Beemapally native Asmiya, who was found hanging inside a library at a Madrassa in Balaramapuram, said they would file a complaint with the Chief Minister. The family is planning to file a complaint with the CM and higher police officers alleging that there is a mystery surrounding the death of Asmiya.
According to Asmiya's parents, their daughter took the drastic step as she suffered constant mental harassment by a teacher in the institution. Asmiya, who completed her SSLC studies, was enrolled in the institution in Balaramapuram last year for Plus One education and religious studies. The student, who came home for a month's leave during the recent Ramzan period, informed her parents that she would not study at the institution and that things were not progressing there correctly. However, the family sent her back there.
According to Balarampuram police, Asmiya called her mother on Saturday afternoon and asked to take her back home. "Her mother reached the Madrassa around 4.30 pm. She was asked to get permission. Around 6.30 she was informed that the girl was found hanging inside the library. Her mother took her to a private hospital in Neyyattinkara. She was declared brought dead on arrival at 7 pm," police said.
"Although we told the police that there was a mystery surrounding our daughter's death, the police are saying that she died of hanging on the basis of the postmortem report. We want a detailed investigation into the incident," the family said.
