THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that there is a possibility of a 2 to 3 degrees Celsius temperature rise in the state in the coming days. The temperature is likely to rise up to 37 degree Celsius in Kozhikode and Palakkad districts (except hilly areas), 36 degree Celsius in Kottayam, Alappuzha and Kollam districts and 35 degree Celsius in Kannur, Malappuram and Thiruvananthapuram districts. Yellow alert has been declared in these districts today due to high temperature and humid air.

Monsoon on June 4

Monsoon is likely to arrive on June 4. There will be rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places till May 20. In the last 5 years, the monsoon started on June 1 only in 2020.

Summer rains

This year there was a 16 percent decrease in summer rainfall. The average rainfall is 22.7cm in summer. This time it fell to 19cm. After cyclone 'Mocha', it was expected to rain in some places in Kerala, but it did not happen.
