NEW DELHI: After several days of uncertainty, the Congress has named Siddaramaiah as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. D K Shivakumar will be the Deputy Chief Minister. DK Shivakumar yielded by half-heartedly accepting the high command formula. Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar will take oath as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister respectively at 12.30 pm on Saturday. The event will be held at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
Shivakumar will continue as the PCC president till next year's Lok Sabha elections. Sources said that Shivakumar will be given important departments, including home. All the six people suggested by Shivakumar will be made ministers with important portfolios.
Siddaramaiah was elected as the leader of the assembly party meeting yesterday evening. He will meet Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot today and make the claim. Siddaramaiah's representative G Parameshwara had met the governor yesterday.
A few ministers will also be sworn in tomorrow. Senior leaders MB Patil, G. Parameshwara, Satish Jarkiholi, KJ. George, NA Harris and UT Khader may become ministers.
Shivakumar compromised on Sonia Gandhi's insistence. He also expressed his displeasure saying that he is accepting the high command's decision like a court verdict.
