achankovil-river-drown

ALAPPUZHA: Achankovil River in Thazhakara is famous for quite some reasons. The longest-flowing river in Kerala covers 128km. However, the shallow depth and uncertainty in the currents are too much of a risk that even keeps away trained swimmers from taking a dip. The sufferings are recurring here as two students were drowned in the Achankovil River today. The team came as a gang of three and jumped for a dip unknowing about the depths. Abhimanyu(15) and Adharsh(17) died in the water while the third one Unnikrishnan swam across the end and escaped.

The three were relatives and left home for cycle riding. After reaching the spot, the three tried for a swim which brought them immediate fate.
