KOZHIKODE: A woman died in a car accident at Thamarassery Churam. Sakeena Banu (25), wife of Hanifa, a native of Koduvally Palakutty, is the one who died. The accident occurred when the two-wheeler carrying the couple and two children collided with a pickup lorry.
The accident happened on Sunday at 4 pm. The bike in which Hanifa, Sakeena, and their children were going up the pass and the pickup coming down the pass collided near the first turn. All the four injured in the accident were admitted to Kozhikode Medical College, but Sakeena died. It is reported that the condition of one of the injured children is critical.
At the same time, although many types of controls and systems are put in place to immediately resolve accidents and vehicle breakdowns in the pass and restore traffic, they are not entirely successful. It was decided to impose traffic restrictions on the Thamarassery Pass from April 5 to avoid traffic jams. The decision was taken in a meeting presided over by District Collector A Geetha to prevent the traffic through Thamarassery Pass from becoming difficult in view of the festive celebrations and school holidays.
