wild-boars

THRISSUR: 'Jaiva Vikarshini' (Bio Repellent) experiment developed by Virinchipuram Agricultural Research Center in Tamil Nadu to repel wild boars from destroying crops a success. The low-cost liquid drug developed from plants is what repels pigs. Humans cannot sense the smell of this drug.

A year ago, as part of the 'Ollur Krishi Samruddhi' scheme, the drug was used at the farms in Nadathara, under the leadership of Minister K Rajan. The pigs have not destroyed the crops since then, and now other farmers have also started to use the Bio Repellent.

Nadathara Panchayat allocated Rs.50,000 for this purpose. Although the Panchayat has the authority to shoot and kill pigs that cause damage to crops, they are unable to find shooters. 'Jaiva Vikarshini' is a relief for the farmers when there is no special fund in the panchayats for pig hunting.

It was planted five months ago in Chalampadam, Kootala, Achankunnu, and Asarikkad farms and it was found to be effective. The drug has been found to be effective in Tamil Nadu and some parts of Andhra as well.

How to use

A two and a half feet high wire fence will be placed around the farm. In them, small vials of medicine of 5ml should be hung on a wire tied at a height of one and a half feet from the floor, at a distance of ten feet between each other. It should be hung by passing the thread through two of the four holes on the sides below the neck of the bottle. The smell will spread through the holes.

Low cost

I own a farm with a lot of pig infestation. There has been no problem for over a year.
