THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: To make the revenue department corruption-free, top officials from the Revenue Minister to the Joint Commissioner of the Land Revenue Commissionerate will visit at least two village offices every month. There will also be inspections at various levels by the Revenue Intelligence Department. This will ensure the direct presence of the Senior Revenue Officer at least once a month in 500 villages. It is possible to know whether the examination at officer levels is conducted twice a month through their PEN number. Important decisions were taken during the discussion held by Revenue Minister K Rajan with the representatives of 17 service organizations.
The minister said that the position of senior officers that they do not know anything about their subordinates who are corrupt cannot be allowed. The names of employees who report corrupt ones will be kept confidential. Nameboards of revenue officers will be displayed in front of their seats for people to complain along with their name and post.
A toll-free number will come into effect by the 10th of this month to identify the corrupt ones. An extensive campaign will be launched targeting the employees through the service organizations to isolate the corrupt and end the corruption. Joint Commissioner Arjun Pandian has been appointed as the convener of the committee for this. The committee will have one representative of each service organization as a member. The committee will consult and announce the program this week itself.
By November 1, all services provided by the Revenue Department will be fully digitized. Revenue will start an e-literacy campaign from November 1 to remove the ignorance of people. Any application made directly to the Revenue Office should be seen by the Village Officer. All the service organizations demanded exemplary action against the employees involved in corruption.
