MUMBAI: The police said Manoj Sahani, arrested for killing his live-in partner, chopped her body in pieces, boiled it in a cooker and then fed them to the dogs. The neighbours said they saw him feeding the dogs. A bucket of blood and flesh were fed to the dogs. He also confessed that he threw some parts in the drain. All this was done to destroy evidence.


Saraswati Vaidya (32), who was living with Manoj for the past nine years, was brutally murdered. Manoj met Saraswati, an orphan, fifteen years ago. They then decided to live together. They were living in a rented flat in Akash Ganga building in Mira Road area for three years.


She was murdered on Sunday. Saraswati suspected Manoj and had regular fights over it. A fight broke out on Sunday and then he murdered her brutally. The body was chopped into twenty pieces using a wood cutter. He then kept it in covers, buckets, wash basins and kitchen stand. A few parts were boiled in a cooker. Meantime, Manoj has testified that Saraswati ended her life by consuming poison and the body was cut into pieces fearing to be arrested by the police. However, the police have not believed this.


The neighbours complained to the police after a foul smell emanated from the flat. The incident came to light when the police arrived and examined. When the police arrived, the accused was not in the flat. Manoj returned home in the afternoon and was taken into police custody. The court has released Manoj in police custody till June 16.
