KOCHI/PALAKKAD: The university will investigate the allegation that K Vidya, accused in the forgery case, was given admission to Ph.D in the Sanskrit University by subversion of reservation. A committee will be appointed for this purpose in the next Syndicate meeting. A case was registered against Vidya for producing a fake work experience certificate stating that she had taught at Maharaja's College for the appointment as a guest lecturer at Attappady Government College. Following this, Ambedkar Study Circle Coordinator Dinu Veyil filed a complaint alleging that Vidya got admission to Ph.D. by subverting the reservation system.
Dinu said that in 2019-20, 10 seats were announced for PhD in the Malayalam section of the university. Apart from this, five more people including Vidya were selected. If the additional five are considered, the last chance should be given to the SC and ST category. The SC ST cell, which investigated the complaint, reported that the reservation was not met, but the vice chancellor dismissed it. Dinu says that Varsha, a Dalit student, approached the court against this, but the university did not take a favorable stand.
Voicemail saying it's not legal
Ex-Vice Chancellor Dharmaraj Adat's voice that Vidya's admission was not as per the rules has come out. The recording of Dharmaraj speaking to the students, who came with the complaint in 2019, is the one that came out. The High Court had directed the university to take legal action on Vidya's petition seeking consideration of her application for admission to Ph.D. The complaint is that the admission was given by misinterpreting this.
