THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has informed that monsoon has spread in the state. There is a chance of heavy rain with thunder and lightning in isolated places till the 12th of this month. According to the department, there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts and light rain at isolated places in other districts.
Biporjoi is located as a super cyclone over the Middle East Arabian Sea. After gaining strength again, Biporjoy is likely to move in a north-northeast direction during the next 24 hours and in a north-northwest direction in the next three days. Low pressure over the northeast Bay of Bengal has strengthened into a very strong depression near Bangladesh - Myanmar coast.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been declared in the districts from Pathanamthitta to Ernakulam today following the warning of widespread rains in the state today and tomorrow. Yellow alert is valid in these districts tomorrow also. Due to the possibility of bad weather and high waves, a fishing ban continues along the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
