THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 36 university union councilors of Kerala University have been disqualified. In an inspection conducted in other colleges after the controversy in the Kattakkada Christian College University union councilor election, it was found that 36 councilors have exceeded the prescribed age limit. The decision to disqualify them was taken by the Kerala University Syndicate meeting held today. It has also been decided to remove their names from the voter list.
About 30 colleges have not informed the university about the election details. Those colleges have been directed to inform if the election has been conducted as per rules, the university said in a press release.
Meanwhile, Kerala University has asked Kattakkada Christian College to pay a fine of Rs 1,55,938 in the SFI leader impersonation case. The action was taken in a situation where the university elections had to be postponed after impersonation was detected. The fine was given as part of recovery of the loss caused due to this, from the college.
