BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court has accused a woman of filing a false rape complaint against her husband. The court then stayed the further proceedings in the case. The court took action observing that the woman misused the law. The court observed that the woman's husband and his family were unnecessarily dragged into the case and defamed.

The woman had complained that her marriage took place without her consent and that she was sexually abused by her husband. The woman also told the court that the sexual relationship between the two should be considered rape as she was drunk on the day of the wedding. However, the turning point came in the case when the accused youth revealed his side. He informed the court that he had been in love with the complainant for four years and her claim that he had married her without her consent was false.

The youth said that the complainant had another relationship before the marriage. The problems started when he found that she was continuing this relationship through WhatsApp. He told the court that the complainant left his home in a fit of rage when he questioned the extramarital affair. Later, she filed a complaint alleging rape.

The court then observed that the woman's intention was to defame her husband and his family. It also directed to stop the investigation in the case.
