PALAKKAD: Village Field Assistant Suresh Kumar, who was arrested in the Palakkayam bribery case, will be dismissed from service. The Revenue Minister accepted the recommendations of the inquiry report of the team comprising Revenue Joint Secretary K Biju, Section Officer Libu Babu and Assistant Section Officer S Nishad. The internal investigation team of the revenue department has also submitted a report to the government confirming the findings of vigilance. According to the report, action should be taken against Palakkayam village officer as well. Although there is no indication as to whether the village officer Sajith is also involved in the bribery case or whether he is someone's benami, it is clear that the village officer did not show sufficient caution. There was a serious lapse in the meeting of the village-level Janakeeya Samithi. Although the Janakeeya Samithi was supposed to meet at regular intervals, the meeting was postponed on the grounds that the quorum was not reached. Therefore, the people of Palakkayam village limits lost the opportunity to complain about the demand for bribes.

Suresh's remand period will end on the 21st of this month. Palakkad vigilance took the accused into custody and brought them to Palakkayam and completed the first phase of evidence collection. An investigation is going on to know whether more people are involved in the case. Vigilance is monitoring the track record of the officers working with Suresh.

Assets worth Rs 1.06 crore including Rs thirty five lakh seven hundred thousand in cash were found in the room of Suresh Kumar's lodge. Apart from the cash, 10 new unopened shirts, mundu, sacked kudampuli, 10 liters of honey, crackers and bundles of pens were also found.
