rain

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department said the monsoon will intensify in the state by June 20. There is a chance of isolated thundershowers till June 14. Meanwhile, heavy rains may be received if low pressure is formed. The low pressure over northeast Bay of Bengal has strengthened into a very strong depression near Bangladesh Myanmar coast.

Monsoon over the Kerala coast has weakened due to the influence of cyclone Biparjoy in the Central East Arabian Sea. This is the reason for less rain.

Today, Biparjoy can reach a speed of 195 kmph. Only when its strength decreases and enters the land, the monsoon can reach without any hindrance.

Meantime, the state received only 76.4 mm of rain in the last two days. 182.2 mm should have been obtained and there is a decrease of 58 percent. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that monsoon has spread over the entire state.
