MUMBAI: The Asian Cricket Council is likely to approve the hybrid model proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board for conducting the Asia Cup games in Pakistan. BCCI secretary Jay Shah is the president of the Asian Cricket Council. The hybrid model proposed by Pakistan is that four matches of the Asia Cup could be held in Pakistan and other matches including India's in Galle and Pallekele in Sri Lanka. The announcement in this regard will be made on Tuesday.

With the approval of the hybrid model, a decision will be taken on the arrival of the Pakistan team to India to participate in the World Cup cricket to be held in October-November.

Meantime, Asian Cricket Council members Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan said they are not interested in the hybrid model proposed by Pakistan Cricket Board President Najam Sethi. BCCI had already stated that they are not interested in this.

The PCB had threatened to withdraw from the tournament if the Asia Cup was not held in Pakistan and would not participate in the ODI World Cup to be held in India. BCCI’s stand of not playing in Pakistan was due to security issues.

Pakistan vs Nepal, Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh will be held at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore. The Asia Cup will be held in September.
