KOCHI: CPM state secretary M V Govindan defended the police case against five including college principal, course coordinator and the woman journalist in the mark list controversy in Maharajas College. Govindan told the media that a case will be filed if there is a campaign against the government and the SFI and a case has already been filed before.
‘The case was registered against the journalist as she was part of the conspiracy. Conspiracies must be dealt with. Not going into the merit of the case. This should not be compared with the central government's actions against journalists. The journalist reported the news as part of the conspiracy. Such a news will not come simply and they will be brought to justice.
The police registered a case of conspiracy on the complaint filed by SFI state secretary P M Arsho. The first accused in the case is Vinod Kumar, coordinator of Archeology Department of Maharajas College, Principal Dr V S Joy is the second accused, KSU state secretary Aloysius Xavier is the third, C A Faisal, a student of Maharajas College is the fourth and Asianet News reporter Akhila Nanda Kumar is the fifth accused.
