congress-candidates

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: UDF convener MM Hassan lashed out at the KPCC leadership as the workshop of the reconstituted southern bloc presidents was scheduled to begin in Ernakulam today. When KPCC president K Sudhakaran retaliated in the same vein, the group war in Congress over the decision of the block president intensified.

Hassan attacked the leadership in a press conference at the KPCC headquarters yesterday when AICC general secretary Tariq Anwar, who is in charge of Kerala, is due to arrive today

Hassan said that only the High Command can restore unity. Hassan clarified that Tariq Anwar alone is not the high command and that he will go for discussions if Tariq Anwar calls. Senior leaders of A and I groups may be absent from today's workshop. When asked about Hassan's allegation, Opposition Leader VD Satheesan replied with 'no comments'. K Muraleedharan also openly said that it is customary in Congress to attack leaders.

Unity faded: Hassan

Hassan said that the unity created at the meeting of KPCC office-bearers in Sultan Bathery has faded. There is no point in discussing it with those who are responsible for it. The vigilance probe against VD Satheesan has no connection with the problems in the party. No action has been taken against Satheesan and Sudhakaran. 170 block presidents were elected unanimously. The dispute is about 110 people. The suggestion to discuss this with me and Ramesh was not followed.

It is them who destroyed the unity: K Sudhakaran

K Sudhakaran said that it is them (AI and I groups) who have destroyed the unity of the party, not us.

We did not make any complaint against them or hold a press conference and accuse anyone. Bringing the internal problem in the party to the media is an immature act. What righteousness and pride are there in that? It is like the act of criticizing others from behind bars. Only one or two leaders say that unity and trust have broken down in the party. The reason for that can be guessed.
