KOCHI: KPCC president K Sudhakaran will be questioned in the fraud case against self-styled antique dealer Monson Mavunkal. The Crime Branch has served a notice to Sudhakaran asking him to appear for questioning at the office in Kalamassery on Wednesday. Sudhakaran is the second accused in the case. The Crime Branch registered the case against Sudhakaran on charges of fraud.
The Crime Branch has submitted a report in court after adding Sudhakaran's name as the accused. The pictures of K Sudhakaran posing with Monson Mavunkal had surfaced earlier. However, Sudhakaran said that he did not have any financial deals with Monson.
Monson Mavunkal was arrested in a case of extorting crores from several people by showing fake antiques. It was also found out that several top police officials used to regularly visit Monson's house in Kochi.
A complainant had alleged that Sudhakaran had intervened to help Monson Mavunkal in a FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act) case in 2018 and money was exchanged in his presence. However, Sudhakaran denied the allegations raised against him.
