IMPHAL: The conflict has intensified yet again in Manipur. A 22-year-old man belonging to the Kuki community was shot dead by assailants in Churachandpur district. It is alleged that members of the Meitei sect are behind the murder.
Army sources have also confirmed that a group carried out an attack in Loklak Fai village in Churachandpur
The conflict started after Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey visited Lamka in the Churachandpur district to restore peace. Army and Assam Rifles have been deployed in the region.
Earlier, the Centre had formed a peace committee under the chairmanship of the governor to end the conflict between the two factions. The aim of the committee is to restore peace by negotiating with various tribal groups.
