THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The loud clamor over the vigilance probe against opposition leader V D Satheeshan was intact when news arrived about KPCC president K Sudhakaran being charged by the crime branch in another case. With these two cases in hand, the opposition has upped the accusation saying the government indulging in pure revenge politics similar to what undertaken by BJP at the centre.
Congress looks to build on this narrative to help gain media eyes nationally. The media often adulates Kerala governance but Congress is ready to do the whipping of CPM on the national stage by bringing in the current set of cases that will surely taint the sheen of the party. The Maharaja’s College incident and the conspiracy case registered against an Asianet journalist will be used as weapons to expose CPM.
The 'Punarjani scheme' intended to help flood survivors in 2018 came under the vigilance lens that resulted in a case against V D Satheeshan. Interestingly, the government played adamant incriminating V D Satheeshan albeit legal honchos warning about the case not standing a chance in court. The opposition thus has more cases in its arsenal to direct attack. They have directed accusations saying the attempt is to divert media and public attention to vague cases while the government looks embroiled in Lok Kerala sabha and Maharajas College scam.
