PALAKKAD: In the case of former SFI leader K Vidya Maharaja's forging a document in the name of the college, the Principal of Attappady RGM College busted the Agli police's hoax. Police said yesterday morning that the college did not have any CCTV footage of Vidya reaching the college for the guest lecturer interview. However, after the principal Lalimol Varghese clarified that there was footage, the police who came back in the afternoon had to collect them.

The police said that the backup of the CCTV was only for 5 days and therefore they did not get the footage of Vidya arriving in college, but the principal informed that there was a backup of 12 days. After clarifying that the footage of Vidya's arrival was kept separately, the police came to the college again at 2 pm and collected the footage.

At the same time, the police have started a move to record the confidential statement of the college principal Lalimol Varghese and the interview board members in the court, in connection with the forgery case. The police will apply to the Palakkad CJM court seeking permission for this today.

Agali police reached the college at 11:15 yesterday morning and recorded the statements of the principal, head of the Malayalam department and another female teacher who was present for the interview. Copies of fake documents produced by Vidya during the interview were taken into custody. Vidya's resume was also collected. The college authorities handed over all the documents related to the case to the police. Agali CI Saleem said that only if Vidya is arrested and interrogated, it will be clear from where the fake documents were made.

Doubted Vidya from the beginning

The principal gave a statement to the police that she was suspicious of Vidya who had come to attend the interview for the teaching post from the beginning itself. There were doubts about the content of the work experience certificate submitted by Vidya. Hence no one on the interview board awarded marks to her. Maharajas College was contacted when Vidya was unavailable on the phone for clarification. A complaint was lodged with the police after realizing that the document given by Vidya was fake.

Vidya arrived in a white car

The CCTV footage collected by the police yesterday shows that Vidya arrived at Attapadi College for the interview in a white Swift car. There was another person with Vidya in the car but that face is not clear in the footage. After dropping Vidya, the car leaves the college and then the car reaches the college again after 12 noon.
