KOTTAYAM: An old man has been arrested for bringing a minor girl under a culvert for sexually abusing her. The locals caught the 62-year-old man identified as T E Ibrahim from Chamappara near Erattupetta Teekoy. He was arrested under the POCSO Act.

Ibrahim goes to many places as part of his business. He visits the girl’s house quite often. The locals said that he visited the girl’s house the other day and while returning saw her standing on the road and took her along with him.

On being informed, the Erattupetta police reached the spot. Police said that he took her in his scooter in a secluded place to sexually abuse her. However, his claim was that he came to the ghat to bathe.
