CHENNAI: The Enforcement Directorate is conducting a raid in the Tamil Nadu Secretariat. The raids are being carried out at the office of Tamil Nadu Electricity department minister V Senthil Balaji. ED officials had conducted raids at the minister's official residence and the house of the minister's brother in Karur in the morning.
According to reports, the ED carried out the raids in connection with the case in which Senthil Balaji allegedly made appointments after taking bribes while serving as Transport Minister in the Jayalalitha government.
Senthil Balaji was out for a morning walk when the ED team reached his house at 7 am for the raid. By 11 am, the ED summoned CBI officers. Last month, the Income Tax department had raided the houses of some people close to Balaji for eight consecutive days. The minister told the media that he would cooperate with the investigation.
