THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Just days after CM Pinarayi Vijayan proclaimed his dream of a corruption-free Kerala from Times Square in the USA, Vigilance looks bolstered up with new ways to cleanse the existing dirt of corruption from departments. For this, vigilance looks for people's cooperation. Trap cases and searches will be increased with the involvement of the general public.
The corruption-ending battle will start from government offices. The vigilance will conduct a joint meeting today in headquarters which will see more than 200 officers from all vigilance departments taking part. Officers will be given special training to unveil corruption, said vigilance chief Manoj Abraham.
From now, vigilance will do strict surveillance of all departments. More ways to help connect people with vigilance officials will be established. Government employees under suspicion will be covertly monitored.
Corruption is sprawling within all departments.37 officers have been arrested till now and it is not even six months into this year. Last year the count was 53. Most corruption happens within the Revenue Department. The decision to dismiss the field assistant who took crores as a bribe in Palakkad is one such step toward establishing a new corruption-free Kerala.
