THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress will defend the cases against Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan and KPCC President K Sudhakaran politically and legally. The case against the two leaders came amid a tussle in Congress over the reshuffle of block presidents, which the leaders view with suspicion. The Congress has doubts that it is a move to take advantage of the division of leaders to weaken the party. Congress realizes that they will suffer in the coming election days if they do not stand united.

Leaders of A and I groups, who had boycotted the block presidents' workshop due to organizational issues, came forward to provide moral support to Sudhakaran and Satheesan. Congress is moving to campaign strongly from the grassroots level. The issue will be treated as a golden opportunity given by the government itself to use politically, at a time when anti-government sentiment is strong. Along with legal defense, UDF will also ensure the moral support of parties.

The High Court will be approached soon in the case against Sudhakaran. Sudhakaran has expressed the inconvenience of appearing before the crime branch today. The reason mentioned was the workshop for block presidents of northern districts is being held in Kozhikode.

The opposition is of the view that the cases against the leader of the opposition and the president of the KPCC are politically motivated. The arrival of the cases comes at a time when allegations against the government, including the AI ​​camera and K-FON issues, have been raised. A strong argument for political vendetta can be made. It is argued that a case has been registered against the two leaders as the allegations they raise are annoying to the Chief Minister. The government is facing opposition, even from unexpected quarters, in the conspiracy case filed against the journalist of Asianet News filed on the complaint of the SFI state secretary. This too is a weapon for the opposition.

The current case against Satheesan was earlier written off by the vigilance. The leader of the opposition had challenged in the assembly to file a case against him. The Congress points out that the case of K Sudhakaran accepting money by offering help as an MP in 2018, when he was not an MP, is also baseless.

Sources in Congress point out that the Chief Minister got moral support from CPM and Left Front in the gold smuggling case controversy. The aim of the Congress is to ensure such moral support for the Leader of the Opposition and the KPCC President as well.
