PALAKKAD: Complaint that a cotton ball was left in the stomach of a woman after delivery surgery. Shabana (22), the wife of PM Shafiq, a resident of Edathara, Palakkad, came forward with a complaint against Palana Hospital. A complaint has been sent to Health Minister Veena George and District Collector through e-mail. However, the hospital authorities said that there was no mistake and the cotton was used to prevent excessive bleeding. The hospital authorities stated that the woman and her family did not contact the hospital authorities or sought an explanation regarding the incident.
Shabana was admitted to Palana Hospital for maternity treatment on the 9th of this month. The woman gave birth at around 5 pm that day through a c- section. The woman, who was discharged on the 12th, went to the washroom yesterday morning and a cotton ball weighing about 50 grams came out of her body. Shabana says that she felt abdominal pain immediately after the delivery surgery and informed the doctor about it. However, the doctor who treated her said that abdominal pain is normal after the delivery surgery and the pain will go away after walking. Even after coming home, she felt stomach ache. At first, it was thought to be the difficulty from the surgery. Shabana couldn't sit or walk. Shabana says that if the cotton ball had not come out yesterday, her health would have been in danger. A complaint has been filed with the Health Minister and the concerned authorities. Shabana and her family said that they are going ahead with legal action to prevent this kind of incident from happening again.
There is no basis in the allegation: Hospital authorities
Shabana who was pregnant, was brought to the hospital with high blood pressure and diabetes. After that, she underwent an emergency obstetric surgery. The cotton was applied to prevent excessive bleeding following a c-section. If the cotton ball was forgotten after surgery, it cannot be removed without another surgery. This is the fact and there is no basis in the campaign to the contrary, Palana Hospital authorities informed through a press release.
