VYPIN: The police and locals in Munambam were in a pickle learning about the Instagram-based story of a 17-year-old girl, that could have put a thriller film to shame.

According to the girl, she became friends with a boy through Instagram albeit being in a relationship with another boy. The Instagram boy and the girl used to chat daily, bolstering the friendship. However, one day, the same Instagram guy reached her home and kidnapped her with the help of his friends. They reached a construction building where he slapped her many times. A video was forcibly recorded making her say she loves him. The same video was sent to her boyfriend.

Later the Instagram friend visited again and attacked her using a knife. When she cried loud, he escaped the house by jumping the walls. After the story came out, the locals and relatives of the girl staged a protest citing police ineptness in finding the culprit. It forced the case to be investigated by senior officers in service. Shockingly, the police found a mismatch in the girl's statements and learned that the house wall was not an easy one to jump across. The scientific evidence collected also proved costly which pointed fingers at the girl.

When drilled by officers, the girl revealed the truth perplexing many. It was a fake Instagram account made by her. The injuries on hand were her creation using a knife. The story was weaved simply to lure back the affection of her now estranged boyfriend.
