NEW DELHI: A total of 18 MPs from the current government will be fielded in constituencies across India for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Those who have shown their mettle will be considered for higher ranks within the government. External affairs minister S Jaishankar and other ministers including Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal, and Bhupendra Yadhav are sure shot selections by the BJP central leadership.
Union Minister of State for external affairs V Muraleedharan is expected to contest from Attingal while BJP vice president A P Abdullakutty is rumored to contest from Lakshadweep. Muraleedharan is actively involved in welfare schemes and programs in Attingal.
S Jaishankar will contest from New Delhi while Nirmala Sitharaman will seek her chance from Mathura. Piyush Goyal is likely to be placed in Chandni Chowk. The MPs who have completed two terms in Rajya Sabha were asked by the BJP leadership to give the list of their three preferred constituencies to contest.
