IMPHAL: Nine people were killed in the attack in Manipur in the last twenty-four hours. Nine people, including a woman, were killed in the firing between the two sides in Khamenlok last night.
It is reported that some of the victims had multiple bullet holes in their bodies. Many people were injured in the attack and were taken to Imphal for treatment. The attackers set fire to the houses.

Tension between the Meitei and Kuki sects in the state has been going on for over a month. The attacks came amid efforts by the authorities to restore peace. Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the state and held talks with both factions but the crisis did not end. Prime Minister Narendra Modi may come in person to end the conflict. Meanwhile, the Congress delegation is visiting the riot-affected areas.
