THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Due to the weak monsoon winds in Kerala, the rainfall in the next three days will be less than the current rainfall in the state, the Meteorological Department announced. No warning or alert has been issued for the next few days.
Cyclone Biporjoy had strengthened the monsoon winds but lost its influence as it moved away from the Kerala coast and reached the Gujarat coast. This is due to the weakening of monsoon winds. By the next week, there is a possibility of strong winds and widespread rain.
Till June 18, Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts will likely get wind with speeds up to 40-45 kmph and at times upto 55 kmph. Fishing won't be allowed due to the possibility of wind and bad weather.
The National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research has informed that there is a possibility of high waves and rough seas along the Kerala coast (from Vizhinjam to Kasaragod), following which the Disaster Management Authority issued a special alert.
Rogue seas: Precautionary note
1. Stay away from danger areas as directed by the authorities
2. Fishing vessels should be safely moored in the harbour
3. Trips to the beach and activities in the sea should be avoided
