THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A departmental investigation found that IG Guguloth Lakshman was involved in conman Monson Mavunkal's fake antiquities trade scams. ADGP TK Vinodkumar's investigation report in this regard has been handed over to the government. Recently, the suspension was revoked but Laxman's promotion as ADGP was put on hold by the government. He is the third accused in the case. Former DIG Surendran is the fourth accused. It was found that both of them were involved in the money transactions. In this case Lakshman is likely to be suspended again.

The crime branch found that IG Laxman tried to sell the fake antiquities using a middleman and used policemen for the fraud. He has been linked with Monson for three years.

Even after being accused in the fraud case, the IG had an unholy affair with Monson. The IG, accompanied by gunmen in an official vehicle, visited Monson's houses in Kaloor and Cherthala several times. The crime branch also found that Monson used the presence of senior police officials to visit the house to create trust among clients and commit more frauds.
