NEW DELHI: Over 74,000 people were relocated after IMD warned about the dangerous Biporjoy cyclone reaching Kutch shores by 4 pm today evening. The cyclone is expected to whirl the shores at 150 km per hour with more rain and wind to turn the city havoc. Red and orange alerts are being placed in many districts within Gujarat.
Eight states including Kerala are on alert. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning to people in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep along with states like Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
The cyclone is likely to wreak havoc in Gujarat. Areas with high population density are at risk of cyclones. Bhuj Airport is closed till tomorrow. Hospitals in Kutch are ready to face the emergency situation. Army is also ready for rescue operations. 67 trains from Gujarat were canceled for two days due to bad weather.

Biporjoy is also a threat to South Pakistan. 60,000 people were evacuated from Sindh province. Due to strong winds, the dust-covered many areas to the point of obscuring visibility. All coastal businesses were closed in Karachi; the provincial capital and Pakistan's largest city.
According to IMD, after reaching the coast of Jakhau in Gujarat, Biporjoy will head towards Karachi in Pakistan. By today noon, the cyclone will garner tremendous speed. The holy shrines of Dwarkadhish and Somnath temple will remain closed today.
