CHENNAI: The ED remand report against Tamil Nadu electricity minister Senthil Balaji is out. According to the report, Senthil Balaji conspired along with managing directors of transport departments to extort money.

“ For appointments of the driver, conductor, junior tradesman, junior assistant, and junior engineer, Senthil Balaji took enormous money as bribe for approving appointments. The money deals got executed well through the minister's close associates B Shanmugam and M Karthikeyan. The mark list of many applicants who wrote test was changed and even a large number of people who handed over money for appointments were neglected by the minister.” the report says.

The applicants have complained that the money transaction was made through Balaji’s Personal assistant. When the ED searched for bank account details of this time, Balaji’s account had Rs 1.34 crore deposit while his wife Meghalai’s account had Rs 29.55 lakhs.

Meanwhile, the judicial magistrate visited Omandurar's multi-specialty government hospital to carry out remand formalities. The minister was arrested on Wednesday by ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) for an alleged cash-for-job scam.
