KOCHI: CPM will likely take action against CITU leader Anil Kumar in connection with the Mini Cooper controversy. The CPM Ernakulam district committee which met today has decided to remove Anil Kumar from his duties. Anil Kumar is a CITU official, so the party district committee will instruct the CITU to remove him from all positions.
"The requirement to lead a simple life also applies to CITU leaders. The purchase of a luxury vehicle and the justification for it brought disrespect to the party.", the district committee assessed. Anil Kumar is the state secretary of the Petroleum and Gas Workers Union.
Anil Kumar already owns vehicles like Toyota Fortuner and Innova. Recently, Anil Kumar was involved in a controversy related to a Mini Cooper car worth Rs 52 lakh that he bought in the name of his wife. After the pictures of the vehicle were circulated, the issue was discussed in the party centres.
