THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While the Vande Bharat train is successfully operating in the state, reports are claiming that the state will soon get the Vande Metro trains as well. The Railway Board has started deliberations regarding the train routes. The routes will be confirmed soon. The Railway Board has asked each zone to recommend five Vande Metro trains. The Board will take a decision based on the recommendation given by the Southern Railway. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had earlier stated that the Vande Metro train will start running from Thiruvananthapuram to Kochi after January next year.
Vande Metro is being built with the concept that trains can run at a very high frequency i.e. 4 or 5 times a day in cities with a distance of fewer than 100 kilometers. Vande Metro will not have all the stops of passenger trains. This train will have twelve fully air-conditioned coaches. The facilities will be more or less similar to Vande Bharat. Vande Metro can travel at speeds of up to 130 kilometers per hour.
