KOCHI: In an interim relief for KPCC president K Sudhakaran, the Kerala High Court on Friday accepted his anticipatory bail plea in the case related to the self-styled antique dealer Monson Mavunkal. The court will consider the case on June 21st. The court said that Sudhakaran should not be arrested till then.

While considering the petition, the court asked the state government if Sudhakaran will be arrested. The state government replied that it will take the decision according to the situation. Following this, the court adjourned the case to June 21 and directed the state not to arrest Sudhakaran till then.

Meanwhile, K Sudhakaran has alleged in the petition filed in the court that he was made an accused in the case with political motives. He said that there was no allegation against him in the first complaint of those who lost money. In his bail plea, Sudhakaran stated that he had not cheated anyone and that he was named an accused in the case to settle political enmity and damage his image before the society. Sudhakaran submitted the anticipatory bail plea through Adv Mathew Kuzhalnadan.

In September 2021, Crime Branch had registered a case against Monson Mavunkal for swindling Rs 10 crore on the complaint of Yaqoob Purayil, Anoop V Ahamed, M T Shameer, Siddique Purayil, E A Salim, and Shanimon. Anoop told the police that he paid Rs 25 lakh to Monson in the presence of Sudhakaran. Monson’s former driver Ajith and employees Jaison and Joshi said they saw Rs 10 lakh being handed over to Sudhakaran. Sudhakaran was named an accused in the case on June 12.
