LONDON: Three people, including an Indian-origin medical student, were stabbed to death by an unidentified assailant in Nottingham in Britain. The deceased Indian-origin student has been identified as Grace O'Malley Kumar (19). She was a member of England's Under-16 and Under-18 national hockey teams. The attack took place when Grace, a first-year medical student at Nottingham University, was on her way to her residence with a friend in the morning. Fatally stabbed, Grace collapsed while trying to run to a nearby house.

After stabbing Grace, the assailant went on to stab a 65-year-old school employee and another person. The police said that the attack was carried out by a 31-year-old West African. He was soon arrested by the police. The reason behind the attack is unclear. After killing the school employee, the accused tried to drive away with his van. Three pedestrians were injured after the van ran over them. The condition of one of them is critical.

Grace is the daughter of Dr. Sanjoy Kumar, who has been working in London for two decades. In 2009, Sanjoy was awarded the Order of the British Empire for saving the lives of three Afro-Caribbean teenagers.
