THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that the monsoon will intensify in the state in the coming days. A yellow alert has been announced in various districts from June 18. A yellow alert was declared in eight districts on June 20. Yellow alert is declared in Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam and Idukki districts on June 18. Alappuzha, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts have been advised to stay on alert on June 19. On June 20, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts are under yellow alert. In a press release issued at by the IMD, there is a possibility of rain in the districts of Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode and Kannur in the next three hours.
At the same time, the IMD has informed that there is a possibility of thunder and lightning at isolated places till June 20, strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour and heavy rain at isolated places on June 19 and 20.
High wave warning
Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of waves and storm surges with a height of 2.2 to 2.6 meters along the Kerala coast (from Vizhinjam to Kasaragod) from 5.30 pm today to 5.30 pm tomorrow with a speed of between 55 cm and 75 cm per second. Fishermen and coastal residents beware.
1. As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.
2. Keep fishing vessels (boats, boats, etc.) safely moored in the harbor. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.
