KOZHIKODE: Congress leader K Muraleedharan rallied an attack on CPM for their hypocrisy of curtailing media freedom in the state while being vocal about incidents happening in Delhi. “ Sitaram Yechury didn’t comment on the issue. The media asked him several times but he evaded response. Is he being subservient to the Kerala government for paying all dues for the party to run a building as an office in Delhi?” Muraleedharan ridiculed.
“In 2016, CM Pinarayi asked the media to get out of his room( kadaku purathu). Now he is threatening them with jail and arrest. These are trying times for being a journalist in Kerala” Muraleedharan commented.
The Congress leader also talked about the stagnant investigation seen in the infamous train fire incident in Kerala. He said while such cases are put on halt, the media who report such instances are being warned about the consequences. Muraleedharan assured about a government change after three years and has asked the CPM to be ready to face the same treatment now hurled at congress leaders. "When Pinarayi Vijayan was mired in lavalin controversy, congress took a decision to not do political vendetta over the opportunity received," Muraleedahran commented.
