THRISSUR: Attempted theft by a young man by creating an atmosphere of terror inside Federal Bank in Athani. After announcing that he was going to rob the bank, the young man poured petrol on the employees creating panic. The assailant was caught with the timely intervention of the staff and locals.

Lijo Chiriyankandath, a field assistant in the village office, broke into the bank and spread fear. The Vadakancherry police arrived and arrested him. The incident happened around 4:30 pm today. The accused told the police that he tried to rob the bank due to financial problems. It is also suspected that he is mentally challenged.

At the same time, a person was taken into custody by the police in connection with the petrol bomb attack at the Bevco outlet in Ravipuram, Ernakulam. The Bevco outlet was bombed yesterday afternoon. Police said that the reason behind the attack was a dispute that happened when the attacker went to buy alcohol.

At ten in the morning on the day of the incident, a man named Sonu from Edavanakkad had come to buy liquor. The outlet is mostly staffed by women. The other employees questioned him for talking to them in a perverted manner and the police arrived and took him into custody. His friend who was with him escaped when the police arrived. After that, the friend came back and caused trouble at the outlet. He also threw a petrol bomb at the outlet. An accident was averted because the fire did not spread.
