KOLKATA: Clashes in West Bengal after the announcement of local elections. A Trinamool Congress worker was killed in the clash. Former panchayat president Mustafa Sheikh was killed in the conflict in Sujapur. Trinamool accused that Congress workers are being behind the murder.
TMC-BJP activists clashed outside Block Development Officer's office in Sahebganj. The workers of the two parties clashed during the scrutiny of the nomination papers. It is also reported that Union Minister Nisith Pramanik was attacked. Governor CV Ananda Bose visited the conflict areas on the second day as well.
The conflict, which was confined to South 24 Parganas, spread to Kutch Bihar and Sujapur. Conflict continues in Bengal as elections to the local bodies are about to happen. The State Election Commission has approached the Supreme Court against the Kolkata High Court's order to deploy central forces for security.
